A Brief History

The International Friendship Connection was started in 1996 by an American who had lived several years as a foreigner in South Korea. From his own experience as a “foreigner” in South Korea, he recognized the need that all internationals have for support and understanding as they adapt to a new culture. He remembered the many kind and generous people who had helped him feel loved and accepted during the years he lived overseas. After returning to Iowa, he wanted to do the same for others.

What Is The International Friendship Connection?

The International Friendship Connection (IFC) is a fellowship of international and American friends who seek to serve and support international students, scholars and their families,  sponsored by Cornerstone Church of Ames. We want to welcome internationals to Iowa and help them feel like Ames is their “home away from home”. IFC is a great place to meet people from many different countries and develop lasting friendships. We hope that you will decide to attend some of the activities and special events we have planned throughout the year. You can help us create a warm and friendly community of people from all over the world. We look forward to meeting you.
